Updated 12 December 2020
Aaron Snowden Chapter has been communicating since March via email and phone due to virus. We were able to fill the Chapter officer positions and working hard to re-new as many members for 2021. We have been fortunate to have had several noteworthy events these last few months.
Liam Gibson of Navarre High School placed 3rd in the state competition for NJROTC Essay contest on how NJROTC made him a better citizen. Lonnie Jones and Bert Outlaw presented Liam with SAR Certificate, DAR medal and certificate, and DAR check. He had previously received SAR medal and check. (see photo).
The normal county Veterans Day ceremonies were cancelled but Chapter Vice-President Lonnie Jones took it upon himself to display 12 flagpoles with colonial and military flags representing various periods in our history. (see Photo)
The local DAR chapter invited us to attend a Veterans Day ceremony for flag raising and remarks for our Chapter namesake Aaron Snowden at the Milton Cemetery. The ceremony was held the Saturday after the Wednesday Veterans Day, when ten DAR/ SAR members met with SAR members raising colonial flag, and DAR members making remarks about Aaron Snowden and Veterans Day. A flower wreath was laid at the gravesite.
Griffin Walker, a student at Pace High School reached Eagle Scout rank with his Court of Honor being held. President Bert Outlaw and VP Lonnie Jones were asked to participate in the ceremony. Griffin was presented with the BSA/ SAR patch and his proclamation read. Lonnie Jones took the time to give short talk on programs available to Scouts thru SAR. (see Photo)
We look forward to a better, safer 2021.
